A little about me...
While it's true that I am currently taking part in MSU's MAET program, I've been a Spartan from the start! I'm originally from Grand Ledge, Michigan and spent much of my childhood attending Spartan sporting events with my parents. Their love for Michigan State must have rubbed off, as I became an official Spartan undergraduate student myself. One of the most memorable and life-changing experiences I had at MSU was taking part in the very first Pre-Internship Study Abroad Program to Tanjong Malim, Malaysia. During my trip, I was able to live with a Muslim host family, teach in a local school, and learn the culture and language of a country so unlike the United States.
When I graduated from the College of Education with a degree in Elementary Education, I moved to South Bend, Indiana when I took a position in Plymouth Community Schools in Plymouth, Indiana. Honestly, I take a lot of flack for being a MSU fan in this part of the country, but I stick strong to my Spartan roots. Currently, this is my sixth year of teaching and I have found I have a serious affinity for middle school students. I love their creativity, unique perspectives on life, and I even love their attitudes (most of the time)!
In my free time, I love to travel in the United States and throughout the world. One of my life-long goals is to travel to all 50 states and set foot on every single continent, including Antarctica. I have a pretty decent start as I've been to 20 different states, Europe, and Asia. Additionally, I enjoy cycling, swimming, and taking part in outdoor activities. I am an avid young-adult literature reader who longs for weekends and holidays where I have extended periods of time to curl up with a book and a cup of coffee.
Lastly, I've become something of a Twitter addict in the past few years. The professional benefits of the Twitter community never cease to amaze me. Follow Me: @MissKappler
